Popping pearls for bubble tea shops and cafés

Popping pearls (also called popping boba) in a sealed 40 ml cup: one portion per drink. No open tub on the counter, no scoop, no difference between two people's portions, nothing left open at close. Hibiscus, Peach and Lemon, for bubble tea shops, cafés and dessert bars.

Sample kit, then a written rate card. Delhi NCR to begin with.

One cup per drink: what changes behind the counter

In most cafés, popping pearls are scooped from a big tub behind the counter. Every drink means opening it, scooping, judging the portion and closing it again. A sealed single-serve cup changes four things.

  • No tub to open

The pearls stay sealed in their cup until the drink is made.

  • No scoop

One 40 ml cup per drink, so the portion is the same whoever is on shift.

  • Nothing open at close

A cup that was not used is still sealed. There is no half-used tub at the end of the night.

  • Costing in one line

One cup per drink, so the pearls in a drink cost one cup from your rate card.

Trade questions

Can popping pearls go in hot milk tea?

No. They go into cold drinks and desserts, last, after the ice and the pour. Heat softens them, so hot drinks keep their tapioca.

How many pearls go into one drink?

One cup. One 40 ml cup is one serving, so there is nothing to weigh or scoop.

Are they the same as tapioca pearls?

No. Tapioca pearls are chewy and dark. A popping pearl is a thin skin holding flavoured juice: it bursts when you bite, and there is nothing to cook.

Minimum order

Confirmed in writing on your rate card. It is being sized so a single outlet can start, not a chain.

Lead time

Confirmed in writing on your rate card, once our manufacturing partner's terms are in writing. Delhi NCR to begin with.

Storage

Confirmed on the spec sheet and printed on the label. Until then we do not print a storage line anywhere.

Shelf life

Confirmed on the spec sheet and our own trial; the date prints on every label. We are not going to guess it here.

Pricing

Per pack and per serving, on your rate card, so you can cost a menu line before you commit. It arrives with the samples.

Tell us where you pour.

Six lines. It lands with the team rather than a mailing list, and a person replies. Samples follow batch one and come from our manufacturing partner, never our kitchen.
